A four-legged bridal party

Wedding season is upon us! I, for one, have FIVE weddings to attend this year - not only attend, but I am in three out of the five bridal parties – whew!

As our pets become more closely related as family members, more brides and grooms are beginning to include their four-legged friends in their weddings.

So long as your wedding venue allows the option, I think that including your pet on your big day can be a delightful experience. Not only will your pet receive gaga reactions from the crowd, as he or she trots down the aisle, but imagine the photos, laughs and memories everyone will have! An even better excuse to include your pup on your wedding day, especially for those brides and grooms with butterflies swirling in their stomachs, is the well-known fact that pets are proven stress and anxiety relievers – who better to have at your side?

With that being said, managing your pup during your wedding is something that you should not have to deal with, unless you absolutely want to. I recommend hiring your pet-sitter for the event, rather than asking a guest who should be free to enjoy themselves. Your pet-sitter can assist with transportation, overseeing your dog’s participation in photo sessions and basic care after the ceremony. Overall, your sitter will provide you with peace of mind before, during and after the wedding, knowing that your pet is being well cared for the entire time.

Finally, I’d just like to share this beautiful photo, which prompted this blog post, from my cousin who was married in Rhode Island last month (Riley dog included!).
Congrats, Ryan & Brittany!! xxoo
